Choosing a pediatrician before your baby arrives

The third trimester is the ideal time to choose your pediatrician. Expecting parents from across the Bayou Region and surrounding parishes are invited to schedule a complimentary 30-minute prenatal consultation to meet our team, tour the office, and discuss any questions or concerns. Establishing your pediatric home before your baby arrives provides peace of mind and one less thing to worry about during those first hectic weeks.

The newborn visit schedule

Newborns are seen frequently, and for good reason. After the initial visit at 3 to 5 days of age, we schedule checkups at 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months, with additional weight checks whenever feeding or growth concerns arise. This consistent schedule allows us to monitor your baby's health closely and identify concerns such as jaundice, slow weight gain, reflux, hip dysplasia, and developmental delays as early as possible, when intervention is most effective.

Answers to your questions about feeding, sleep, and more

New parents often have lots of questions, and chances are we have heard them before: Is my baby getting enough to eat? Why won't they sleep? Is this diaper count normal? Should I be worried about this rash? We encourage you to bring those questions to every visit, or call us between appointments. That is exactly what we are here for.

We support breastfeeding, formula feeding, and combination feeding, offering guidance tailored to your family's needs. When additional support is helpful, we work closely with local lactation consultants to ensure you have access to the resources and expertise you need.

Working with your hospital and OB

We work closely with Thibodaux Regional, Terrebonne General, and other Bayou Region hospitals where our patients are born. Our team coordinates the transfer of discharge records, follows up on newborn screening results, and ensures a smooth transition from the hospital to home, so your baby's care remains seamless from day one.
